ENGLEWOOD, CO--(Marketwire - Sep 11, 2012) - Responding to growing demand for highly flexible and scalable IT infrastructure solutions, Latisys, a leading national provider of outsourced IT solutions delivered on a high-density, high-security platform -- from colocation to cloud -- today announced it has completed commissioning of a new state-of-the-art data center in Denver, Colorado and will officially open on October 1st.
DEN2 is Latisys' second Denver data center and serves as a flagship for Latisys' ultra high-density IT Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform. With power densities that render legacy data centers obsolete, DEN2 was built to support average power densities greater than 220 watts per square foot with a target PuE of 1.2. This means DEN2 is engineered for extreme flexibility -- making it an ideal platform for Latisys' broad portfolio of IT infrastructure services, which include colocation, managed services, managed hosting, cloud computing, as well as security, network, and disaster recovery solutions geared to the needs of the enterprise.
Built to serve the infrastructure needs of the Denver business market along with requirements from the rest of the country -- for whom the Rocky Mountain region is an ideal Disaster Recovery location -- DEN2 is an 87,000 square foot data center that is built with a modular design. Total sellable raised floor capacity is approximately 50,000 sq. ft. -- more than doubling Latisys' footprint in Colorado. The new data center will be on display and available for tours at Latisys' Grand Opening event on Thursday, September 13.
Located in Centennial, Colorado on a 6.5-acre campus, DEN2 features an initial 14 Megawatts of power and will add another 10 Megawatts in the next phase of development. DEN2 offers access to a wide variety of existing redundant fiber networks, as well as multi-route, redundant fiber connectivity back to Latisys' existing 30,000 square foot data center (DEN1) -- located just minutes away.
Denver's leading enterprises rely on Latisys to provide critical IT infrastructure solutions that underpin their business. Latisys has made it the company's mission to focus on innovation and collaboration -- particularly in solution design and service delivery -- to establish a new standard for outsourced IT infrastructure. Ultimately, Latisys transforms the traditional vendor-buyer transaction into a powerful business relationship based on trust and mutual commitment.
Photobucket Corporation is the world's leading dedicated photo and video sharing service and use Latisys' Denver data center. They have 100 million users, host more than 9 billion images and videos, and facilitate four million images and videos uploaded from the Web and connected digital devices daily.
"Latisys' national infrastructure services platform ensures we deliver the highest quality browsing, sharing and editing experience for our customers," said James Goss, Vice President of Operations, Photobucket Corporation. "Given the dense nature of our infrastructure and need for 100% uptime, Photobucket must have a solution that is extremely flexible, reliable and tailored to our unique requirements. In addition, Latisys' new DEN2 facility is geographically perfect for disaster recovery and redundancy."
"Denver is home to some of the country's most successful enterprises -- all of whom look towards critical outsourced IT infrastructure services," said Peter Stevenson, CEO of Latisys. "What makes Latisys different is that we recognize that each business has unique requirements. Our power densities and technology platform give us the flexibility to tailor solutions to each customer. We are so proud to be the first IaaS provider to build and commission the newest state of the art data center in the Denver area and are committed to continually supporting mission critical business needs in Denver and nationally."
In addition to providing Rocky Mountain businesses with high-density hosting and cloud infrastructure services, DEN2 also enhances Latisys' disaster recovery capabilities for current and prospective customers looking for reliable multi-site redundancy in an area known for low risk of natural disasters. With seven high-density, Tier III data center facilities across all U.S. time zones, Latisys provides unmatched scalability to enterprise customers -- wherever they are -- whether they seek to off-premise, off-load, optimize or on-demand their IT infrastructure.
Latisys' national data center platform is operated under SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 audited controls. This replaces the SAS 70 guidebook and reaffirms Latisys' commitment to meet the highest standards for availability and security, while making sure all of the appropriate controls and safeguards are firmly in place.
Earlier this year, Latisys announced that it is adding 72,000 square feet of highly secure, high-density, carrier grade IT infrastructure space along with significant power upgrades. Latisys' total data center platform now exceeds 343,000 square feet across seven data centers in four major markets.
Latisys' expansion and rapid growth reflects increasing market demand for data center and hosting services nationally. Gartner predicts the cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) market will grow by 47.8% through 2015.
