Lattice Platform Manager Named 2010 EDN Innovation Awards Finalist

HILLSBORO, OR--(Marketwire - March 1, 2011) - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that its Platform Manager™ Product Family is an EDN Innovation Awards Finalist (http://innovation.edn.com/). Now in its 21st year, the EDN Innovation Awards are among the most prestigious and sought after in the electronics industry, combining nominations by EDN's editors with online voting by its readers to determine the winners, who will be announced May 2, 2011.

According to a statement from EDN, "Over its lifetime of more than 50 years, EDN has witnessed many distinguished achievements. In 1990, we embarked on a special mission to honor the most innovative technological advancements -- and the designers who invent them. The EDN Innovation Awards program is now in its 21st year and proudly continues its tradition of recognizing rich talent in our industry in several categories."

"Being named an EDN Innovation Awards Finalist is a distinct industry honor," said Chris Fanning, Lattice Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Low Density and Mixed Signal Solutions. "Our Platform Manager devices offer a simple and elegant design solution to the growing complexity of board design. A Platform Manager device replaces multiple discrete components with one integrated IC that supports many common board functions such as power management, digital housekeeping and glue logic. This enables board designers to reduce cost, shrink board space, improve reliability and reduce the risk of board re-spins."

About Platform Manager Devices

Modern circuit boards use devices such as CPUs, FPGAs and ASICs to perform the primary processing functions. In turn, these devices require multiple board-mounted power supplies that need to be turned on and off in a specific sequence, monitored for faults and trimmed for voltage accuracy. The circuit board also requires digital support functions such as reset distribution, start-up configuration control for FPGAs and ASSPs, watchdog timers and a system bus interface for a microcontroller. Lattice's programmable Platform Manager family provides a single-chip solution that integrates all of these power and digital management functions ("Platform Management").

Because it integrates both power management and digital management functions, the Platform Manager device reduces the number of board components, which saves time and board area and reduces design risk. A collection of unique single-function ICs for power management and digital support functions are replaced by the single chip Platform Manager device. It is anticipated that in many cases the Platform Manager device can cut the bill-of-material cost by 50%.
