Launch of the Book Famille Chagnon pour l'enfance: BNP Paribas (Canada) Highlights the Social Commitment of the Chagnon Family (Lucie and Andre Chagnon Foundation)

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 29, 2011) - To underline its commitment to the Chagnon family, who won the BNP Paribas Wealth Management Grand Prix for Philanthropy in 2010, BNP Paribas (Canada) presented the book Famille Chagnon pour l'enfance to Mr André Chagnon during a cocktail evening in Montreal, September 29. This event brought together directors from BNP Paribas (Canada) and members of the Chagnon family. Mr André Chagnon is chairman of the board and CEO of the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation.

Created by BNP Paribas Wealth Management in partnership with the International Herald Tribune and New Philanthropy Capitals in 2008, the Individual Philanthropy Awards, which include two categories – the Grand Prix and the Jury's Special Prize, reward remarkable initiatives of major philanthropists around the world. The winners are chosen by an independent jury, composed of experts from the worlds of art, culture, entrepreneurship, and non-profit organizations. This world-renowned prize was awarded to the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation on the occasion of the Second Philanthropy and Sustainable Development Event organized by BNP Paribas in Paris, 2010, at a time when the largest private foundation in Canada, was celebrating its 10th anniversary. Mr Claude Chagnon, President of the Foundation, was present to accept the prize.

Following the creation of this prize, BNP Paribas created a dedicated book series. Every year, it releases a publication about the winner, its initiative and its commitment. The launch of the book Famille Chagnon pour l'enfance was the latest event in this honorary process.

"BNP Paribas (Canada) is proud to present this book to the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation, a local organization that had managed to distinguish itself as one of the most important foundations in the world", said Anne Marie Verstraeten, President and CEO of BNP Paribas (Canada).

"My family and I are very touched by this gesture, which recognizes our commitment to fight poverty for children in Quebec", said André Chagnon. "We would like to warmly thank BNP Paribas for this book, which successfully captures the personality and mission of the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation."

Published by Democratic Books (Paris), the book is vivid, colourful, fun and touching. As well as a detailed history of the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation and the Chagnon family, written by Guy-Pierre Chomette, Famille Chagnon pour l'enfance contains a number of photographs of children and family helped by the Foundation (with captions for each photo). The photographer Flore-Aël Surun has managed to perfectly capture the essence of the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation.

Famille Chagnon pour l'enfance is available now in bookstores around Quebec.
