Lauren Alaina Steals 'American Idol' Finale With ole Song

'With That Song, You May have Just Won!' Exclaimed Idol Judge Jennifer Lopez

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 25, 2011) - The Internet was all "a buzz" following last night's soaring rendition by Lauren Alaina of the ole-published "Like My Mother Does", as she wowed the judges and brought the studio audience to its feet. Coming into last night's final performance, the general consensus was that fellow country teen Scotty McCreery all but had American Idol Season 10 in the bag.

The release of Alaina's version of the track on iTunes immediately following the show was actually the third commercial release of the song. Previously it appeared on American Idol finalist Kristy Lee Cook's album in 2008, and last year it was a single for new artist Jesse Lee.

"Jimmy Iovine once again proved how magic is created by matching the right song, with the right singer, at the right time" praised ole President Michael McCarty, the independent music publishing company who publishes Liz Rose, co-writer of "Like My Mother Does". "All hit records start with a great song, but then it needs to find its way to an artist who makes a deep emotional connection with it. In this case, the third time will be the charm".

In addition to "Like My Mother Does", ole publishes a number of songs by Grammy Award winner Liz Rose including many of Taylor Swift's biggest hits. ole, one of the world's fastest growing independent music publishers, is home to over 45,000 songs, and some of the best songwriters in music today.
