"Laurier Homecoming Presents Russell Peters" Saturday, SEPTEMBER 20th at Kitchener Auditorium

WATERLOO, ONTARIO and KITCHENER, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 2, 2008) - Russell Peters returns to Southern Ontario for his one and only show in the region this year for Wilfred Laurier's Homecoming on Saturday, September 20th, 2008 at the Kitchener Auditorium.

"I didn't get a chance to bring my own Homecoming Tour to Waterloo, so now Homecoming is bringing me," says Peters. "What most people probably don't know is that just after I was born, my parents moved to Waterloo for a while - so it's Homecoming for me as well."

Clayton Peters, Russell's brother and manager adds, "This is Russell's only date in Southern Ontario this year, so it's a great opportunity for those fans that didn't get a chance to see him for the Homecoming Tour in 2007 to get caught-up on his latest adventures..."

In June 2007, Peters became the first comic to sell-out the Air Canada Centre; where over 30,000 fans came out to watch him over two nights.

In February of this year, Peters achieved a number of milestones in his career - he sold-out the Wamu Theatre at Madison Square Garden; where he also recorded his new live DVD/CD, Russell Peters: Red, White and Brown, that will release this fall, two weeks later he appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for the first time, and then went on to sell-out LA's new Nokia Theatre, where he had the second highest attendance record since the theatre opened. A week later he sold-out the prestigious Sydney Opera House and went on to perform for over 30,000 fans across Australia. On July 4th, Peters performs at Pearl Harbour for over 15,000 US and RIMPAC troops to close off the biannual multi-national exercises in Hawaii.

Recently named the Global Ambassador for Tourism Toronto, Peters is wrapping up a series of club dates across the US where he's been working on new material. "Once I put a show on-tape or for broadcast, that material is pretty much burned. I have to go back to square one and start working on a new set. It takes a long time to come up with an entirely new show, but I'm working on it," says Peters.

Peters' appearance at Laurier's Homecoming will feature material from last year's Homecoming Tour and the upcoming Red, White and Brown release.

Red, White and Brown will be distributed by Warner Brothers in Canada and will be released in the fall. It will also be broadcast by Showtime in the US. Peters continues to work on a new animated project, a sitcom for FOX and a variety show.

General on-sale is Wednesday, July 9th at 10 a.m.. Tickets will be available at www.ticketmaster.ca. For more information on Russell Peters, visit www.russellpeters.com.
