Law Enforcement Associates Receives Order From U.S. Coast Guard for Multiple UVIS Units
| Source: Law Enforcement Associates
RALEIGH, NC--(Marketwire - June 24, 2008) - Law Enforcement Associates Corporation (LEA)
(AMEX : AID ), the largest U.S. developer and manufacturer of undercover
surveillance equipment, today announced that the U.S. Coast Guard has
placed an order for multiple units of LEA's legacy Under Vehicle Inspection
System (UVIS). Value of the contract and details of the order were not
disclosed.
The UVIS is the predecessor to LEA's smaller Smith & Wesson-branded SWIFT.
Both models are ground-based surveillance tools that utilize wide-angle,
low-light camera systems to inspect vehicle undercarriages. The UVIS
platform was introduced by LEA in 1996, and it has since been installed at
thousands of sensitive government, military and commercial locations around
the world.
"The UVIS remains an important tool for both surveillance and deterrence
applications for a broad base of domestic and international customers,"
said Paul Feldman, president of LEA. "We are encouraged by the continued
level of demand for this product 12 years after its inception."
