| Source: Law Enforcement Associates
YOUNGSVILLE, NC--(Marketwire - August 23, 2007) - Law Enforcement Associates Corporation
(LEA) (AMEX : AID ), a leading provider of surveillance and security products
to the global law enforcement, military, security and corrections markets,
today announced it has received orders for an additional 29 Birddog™ GPS
tracking systems subsequent to the company's June 4 product-update news
release. LEA has now sold 89 of the systems since the reintroduction of
the Birddog in January.
"LEA's technologies are proving a vital resource for covert surveillance
and tracking operations among law enforcement professionals and agencies
across the country," said Paul Feldman, president. "A notable example is a
recent case in a major Midwestern city where police used our tracking
technology in the seizure of $665,000 in cash, 713 pounds of marijuana, 25
kilos of cocaine, 11 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, 2.89 pounds of MDMA
(Ecstacy), 11,000 Xanax, 11 guns, three cars, two Sea-Doos and a
Harley-Davidson motorcycle."
"The original Birddog was a radio frequency (RF)-enabled tracking device
introduced by our AID division in the 1970s, and over time it became the
most widely used covert tracking system among local and federal law
enforcement agencies," Feldman said. "Our new device incorporates advanced
GPS tracking technology and leverages the registered and highly recognized
Birddog brand. We are very encouraged by the strong reception this system
is enjoying within our target markets."
