LCBO Wins Coveted Retail Council of Canada 2007 Award for Excellence in the Retail Supply Chain Category

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 14, 2007) - After recording its best year ever with sales of $3.9 billion, the LCBO has also been recognized by the Retail Council of Canada with its 2007 National Excellence Award in the Retail Supply Chain category. This prestigious award was conferred on the LCBO at Store 2007, Canada's Retail Conference, held in Toronto on June 5, 2007.

The LCBO won the award for its "New Item Submission System" (NISS), an easy-to-use, web-based collaboration portal that streamlines and automates the entire process of new product submissions for wines, spirits and beer suppliers and agents in Canada and 70 other countries around the world.

The new system allows LCBO staff to quickly log, track and approve or decline new submissions, generating significant savings in time and money for both suppliers and the LCBO. The system has virtually eliminated all paper-based new product submission applications and manual administration for both retailer and suppliers and dramatically speeds up the application process by eliminating errors, minimizing turnaround times and making phone calls and written communications a rarity.

NISS was designed in collaboration with Toronto-based QLogitek, a leading Canadian developer and provider of hosted supply chain collaboration solutions. QLogitek hosts and maintains the system and provides an ongoing technical assurance program that ensures uninterrupted and seamless service on a 24x7 basis to the LCBO, its suppliers and their agents.

Hugh Kelly, LCBO's Senior Vice President, Information Technology, said that NISS and the productivity gains flowing from it will contribute to improved financial performance and greater opportunities for suppliers.

"The LCBO has a focus on continuous improvement and systems like this help us to grow the business in a cost-effective manner," he said. "We had an outstanding consulting team, both in-house and external, and QLogitek shares equally in this award."
