LCBO's Spirit of Giving Campaign Raises Funds for MADD Canada

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 26, 2010) - Starting December 1, the public can help support MADD Canada by making a donation at any of the more than 600 LCBO stores throughout Ontario. Donation boxes for MADD Canada will be displayed at LCBO checkout counters until December 31. As part of LCBO's annual Spirit of Giving campaign, cashiers will also invite customers to add a $2 donation to their purchase until December 31, 2010.

During the month of December, LCBO's Spirit of Giving in-store prompted and donation box fundraising campaign raises funds for MADD Canada's school education program and for Ontario's four sick children's hospitals: SickKids Foundation, McMaster Children's Hospital, CHEO Foundation and Children's Health Foundation.

LCBO is an official partner of MADD Canada and supporter of the School Multi-Media Assembly Program. As part of its Spirit of Giving campaign, LCBO places Project Red Ribbon coinboxes in its stores. The campaign raises awareness for Project Red Ribbon and funds for the School Multi-Media Assembly Program throughout the province of Ontario. Thanks to the 2009 LCBO campaign, over 500 presentations of the 2010-2011 School Multi-Media Program, Shattered, will be delivered to a half a million students.

MADD Canada's Multi Media School Assembly Program is designed to get students thinking about the seriousness of impaired driving - as drivers and passengers - and what they can do to stop it. Shattered blends real life victim testimonials with three fictional storylines about pre-teens and teens drinking. It drives home the message that a decision to drive impaired, or ride with an impaired driver, shatters lives forever. To see a preview of Shattered, please visit MADD Canada's web site:

"We are so appreciative of the support we receive from LCBO, its employees and especially its customers," said MADD Canada National President Denise Dubyk. "Their partnership enables us to visit more communities and empower more students with the knowledge and tools they need to prevent impaired driving."

"We take our community involvement very seriously and are pleased to partner with MADD Canada," says LCBO President and CEO Bob Peter. "We appreciate how LCBO customers and staff always show their spirit of giving by helping these worthy causes and their fellow Ontarians. This year, we hope to surpass the record $1.8 million raised last December."

MADD Canada thanks the public for its support when shopping at their local LCBO store during December.
