Lead the Change and Walk with the Farha Foundation: Join the Fight on September 29 in Support of Over 20,000 Quebecers Affected by HIV/AIDS

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 24, 2013) - The Farha Foundation, Quebec's leading HIV/AIDS fundraising organization, is calling on all walkers to participate in ÇA MARCHE 2013 and lead the change. Join the fight on September 29, 2013 in the 21st edition of Quebec's largest walk for the cause. The funds generously donated to this event will be distributed to organizations across the province in support of the some 20,000 men, women and children affected by the world's fast growing STD.

"We are looking forward to walking with over 3,000 participants this year," said Linda Farha, Foundation Volunteer President and Spokesperson. "We are walking in the streets of downtown Montreal to make a difference in support of the HIV/AIDS community and raise awareness, particularly among our youth, about the ever-present threat of HIV/AIDS."

This year's campaign will see thousands of walkers and VIPs, including ministers, come together for a seven-kilometre walk beginning at Parc Émilie-Gamelin (corner St-Catherine East and St-Hubert accessible from the Berri-UQAM Metro). Participants will be warmed up with an aerobics session from À Pieds Levés and energized by DJ stars Cristina Rizzo and Gabrielle Fallu from Bell Media's Virgin Radio and Rouge FM. Colin Moore will be opening ÇA MARCHE 2013 with a spirited song. Walkers will be treated to entertainment along the route including chants from the choir, performances from a dance troop and other surprises along the route.

ÇA MARCHE (camarche.ca), one of the first Farha Foundation events to emerge in 1993, is an annual walkathon of seven kilometres, gathering thousands of people to fundraise and increase awareness for the HIV/AIDS cause.

To maximize awareness of the event, the Farha Foundation asks you to spread the word to as many people as possible. In doing so, you will contribute directly to helping those living with HIV/AIDS, a disease that currently infects as many as two people a day in Quebec. Bring your family and friends to inspire our community to support the cause. Sign up now at camarche.ca.

The Farha Foundation is Quebec's leading fundraising organization, dedicated to helping men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, and the complications associated with it. The Farha Foundation is also committed to raising awareness and sensitizing the population to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Since 1992, the Farha Foundation has distributed over $9 million to 76 organizations across Quebec, providing services such as healthcare, food and housing to HIV/AIDS victims, as well as HIV/AIDS prevention and education programs. An advisory committee determines which organizations the Farha Foundation supports, and ensures that the funds are put to the best possible use.
