LeadAmerica Appoints John M. Danielson to Chair Executive Advisory Board

Former U.S. Department of Education Chief of Staff to Serve and Advise Executive Team

BOCA RATON, FL--(Marketwire - December 16, 2010) - LeadAmerica, one of the nation's educational leaders in personalized experiential learning designed to better prepare middle and high school students for their transition to college and their future career, announced today that John M. Danielson, former Chief of Staff at the United States Department of Education, has joined LeadAmerica as a member of its executive advisory board. In this role, Danielson will work with the company to assemble and lead an advisory board consisting of leaders from the fields of education, business, government and philanthropy. The advisory board's goal is to provide ongoing counsel on LeadAmerica's programming, while ensuring it remains relevant, meaningful and aligned with the latest trends and research.

"I'm truly honored to join LeadAmerica in its efforts to inspire and empower students to achieve their full potential," said Danielson. "LeadAmerica is essentially a 'Head Start for college and career readiness,' a topic generating a great deal of discussion within the education community. While nearly 70 percent of high school graduates in the United States enroll in college, only about 57 percent graduate within six years. Many of today's students are unprepared for the expectations and demands they will encounter in college. LeadAmerica's mission is to provide a compelling college immersion experience that allows students to explore their future path, discover what inspires them the most, and begin to develop the tools necessary to fulfill their dreams. This is an important component in preparing America's youth for college and their future."

Prior to joining LeadAmerica, Danielson was appointed Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Education by President George W. Bush, where he served U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige from 2001 to 2003. While in office he earned a reputation for adapting innovative business strategies and tactics to resolve some of the most critical issues facing public education, including the implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act. In addition, Danielson has extensive understanding and exposure to educational reforms globally that work to drive student achievement and prepare more graduates for a successful post-secondary experience, including research-based curriculum, professional development, culture assessment and achievement management systems at a classroom, school and system-wide level.

Danielson recently continued his work with the U.S. Department of Education by serving as a peer reviewer in both phases of Race to the Top, the multi-billion dollar federal funding initiative to stimulate and reward states for research based innovations that drive student achievement. Additionally, Danielson served as a key advisor to former U.S. Secretary of Education and current U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander from 1990 to 1995.

"Mr. Danielson is an accomplished business executive in the education sector who believed early in his 25-year career that the private sector, in partnership with the public sector, has an important role to play in the creation of improved systems and technologies that deliver better learning outcomes for all students," said Terrence Stecz, CEO of LeadAmerica. "His passion and expertise will be tremendous assets in support of LeadAmerica's vision, and we welcome him to our team."
