LEADER OF NORTH AMERICA'S LARGEST UNION TO APPEAR ON THE CBC

ANDREW STERN TO DISCUSS THE GLOBAL LABOUR MOVEMENT ON NEWSWORLD'S THE HOUR, CBC RADIO ONE'S THE SUNDAY EDITION Attention: Business/Financial Editor, Health/Medical Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 16, 2005) - Andrew Stern, International President of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), will appear on The Hour tonight at 8 p.m. with host George Stroumboulopoulos.

Stern has been making headlines across the United States, most recently in the New York Times Magazine, for his bold vision for the future of labour around the world.

Stern will also be a guest this weekend on CBC Radio One's The Sunday Edition with Michael Enright.

By building industry-wide strategies to unite worker strength internationally, Stern says labour will be able to stand up to multi-national employers and stop the Wal-Marting of jobs.

SEIU is North America's largest and fastest-growing union with over 1.8 million members. In Canada, SEIU represents over 90,000 workers, the vast majority of whom work in health care.
