Leading Commercial Architecture Firm Selects Infoblox Appliances to Deliver Nonstop DCHP Services for VoIP Network

Infoblox ID Grid Technology Selected for Superior Resiliency, Manageability and Lower Costs

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 10, 2006 -- Infoblox Inc., a developer of essential infrastructure for identity-driven networks (IDNs), today announced that San Francisco-based commercial architecture firm Gensler has selected and deployed Infoblox appliances for their voice over IP (VoIP) network. As a result of improved reliability and security, significant cost savings, a decrease in administrative overhead and streamlined operations, Infoblox appliances now supply nonstop IP address assignment via the DCHP protocol. The Infoblox solution also delivers centralized management and distribution of IP phone software and configuration files via the TFTP protocol for Gensler's VoIP network with more than 4,000 phone sets.

To date, seven Infoblox appliances have been deployed in Gensler's San Francisco headquarters as well as in Virginia, North Carolina, Southern California and Arizona offices. Infoblox-1200 appliances also are being deployed at the Company's disaster recovery site in Northern California. More than 25 Infoblox appliances are expected to be added to Gensler's expanding VoIP network by the end of 2006.

"The Infoblox solution provides a single unified infrastructure for keeping the system up to date and running nonstop," said Bruce Bartolf, principal and Chief Technical Officer at Gensler. "Once in place, we estimate that the Infoblox solutions will save up to 10 hours per week in operational resources. The Infoblox solutions are integrated and secure and the grid technology ensures that IP address changes are propagated in real time. The ability of the system to simplify the process of synchronizing firmware updates for our VoIP handsets is also a great feature and a major time saver."

Dial-Tone Reliability for IP Telephony Services

Ensuring "dial-tone" like reliability was a decisive factor in selecting equipment to replace Gensler's traditional PBX phone system. That same reliability requirement applied to its DHCP infrastructure, which is necessary to automatically provide IP addresses to IP telephones. Gensler, which has more than 2,100 employees worldwide and 1,500 clients, realized that their Windows server-based DHCP solution could not provide the scalability and reliability they needed as the addition of VoIP dramatically increased the number of devices and IP address demands on their network.

Coupled with an IP PBX solution from Avaya networks, Gensler selected two Infoblox-1200 appliances and three Infoblox-1000 appliances running the DNSone and Keystone modules to perform DHCP and TFTP services for the VoIP network. In addition to providing unparalleled reliability advantages, the Infoblox ID grid technology allows Gensler to treat its distributed appliances as a unified system and to centrally manage the services across all devices. By deploying a robust infrastructure for their VoIP network, the system has eliminated significant administrative overhead and costs for Gensler.

"If we were using Microsoft servers, we would have to run distributed file system operations with a dedicated Windows server at every site, which would increase our IT expenses substantially," said Bartolf. "Each system would require ongoing maintenance for antivirus and security patches."

After completing the DHCP and TFTP roll out for the VoIP system, Gensler plans to also use the domain name resolution (DNS) services provided by the Infoblox appliances. The latter deployment will take advantage of Infoblox's Microsoft integration capabilities, ensuring seamless compatibility with Gensler's Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure.
