Leading Health Care Regulatory Attorney Joins Cooley


WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - Jun 16, 2011) - Cooley LLP announced that W. Andrew ("Drew") H. Gantt III has joined the firm as a partner. He will be resident in Cooley's Washington, DC office and will head the firm's Health Care Regulatory practice. Gantt was previously a health care and life sciences partner in the Washington, DC office of Latham & Watkins LLP.

Gantt represents a wide variety of health care and life sciences companies, health plans, health care providers, manufacturers, suppliers, health care IT, communications, and "eHealth" companies in corporate and regulatory matters. In addition, he advises venture capital groups, private equity funds and other investors and financial groups on health care regulatory issues in connection with the financing of health care mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and financings. Gantt has been recommended as a Health Care and Life Sciences attorney by The Legal 500.

Recently recognized as one of the top 10 outstanding health care IT lawyers by Nightingale's Healthcare News, Gantt has a particular expertise in advising health care and life sciences companies on eHealth, health care data privacy and security matters, as well as on compliance with Federal and state fraud and abuse laws. He also is chair of the ABA eHealth, Privacy & Security Interest Group.

Gantt earned his a BA from University of California-Berkeley in 1987, a MTS from Harvard Divinity School in 1990, and his JD from the University of Virginia in 1993. Prior to joining Latham, Gantt was associate general counsel with Johns Hopkins Health Systems. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
