Leading HMR Company Joins Ranks of Select Few

Tiffany Gate Foods is Awarded the Safe Quality Food Certificate-Level 2

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 1, 2011) -

Note to Editors: President of Tiffany Gate Foods available for interview.

Tiffany Gate Foods is pleased to announce it has been awarded The Safe Quality Food (SQF) 2000 Code Certificate, Level 2. In order to earn this prestigious designation, a food company must be HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) certified to begin with, and have exacting food safety and quality assurance protocols in place.

Tiffany Gate Foods is a leader in the HMR (Home Meal Replacement) category. They are best known for the fresh gourmet salads, entrées and side dishes seen in deli cases at major supermarkets in Canada and the United States. Tiffany Gate Foods has been preparing fresh food for supermarkets and restaurants for over 20 years creating signature dishes that tempt the palate like Greek Pasta Salad, Thai Mango Chicken, Chicken Parmigiana, and Chickpea Jardinière to name a few.

"We continue to challenge ourselves when it comes to producing safe quality food. Although we have been HACCP certified for years, are a Federal Government inspected facility, and have many quality assurance programs in place, we welcome programs like SQF. The process for earning this certification is a rigorous one and very few food companies can comply with all the requirements. We are committed to food safety and quality and this certificate exemplifies that," said Adolph Zarovinsky, president of Tiffany Gate Foods.

"Food retailers and manufacturers seek suppliers who are SQF certified because of increased brand protection, consumer confidence and loyalty; and food safety and quality assurance through the food supply chain," said Bob Garfield, senior vice president of the Safe Quality Food Institute. "Achieving SQF certification provides verification that a supplier's food safety and quality management system complies with international and domestic food safety regulations. This enables suppliers to assure their customers that food has been produced, processed, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards, at all levels of the supply chain."

The SQF 2000 Code is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative, is HACCP based, and is designed to aid food manufacturers in producing safe food. The SQF 2000 demonstrates that food safety plans are in place and implemented in accordance with the strict program requirements.
