Leading International IT Association Offers Certification Course for IT Asset Disposition

International Association of IT Asset Managers Says ITAD Is a Corporate, Social Responsibility

CANTON, OH--(Marketwire - Aug 6, 2012) - Corporate and IT asset managers can now become Certified in IT Asset Disposition (CITAD) through the International Association of IT Asset Managers (IAITAM), the leading global education resource for IT asset management.

IAITAM's Certification in IT Asset Disposition (CITAD) course will offer a best practice approach to end-of-life states including, but not limited to:

  • Planning for end-of-life strategies
  • Selecting the right disposition method
  • Data security
  • Data destruction
  • Disposal storage
  • Documentation and corporate policies
  • Create a business model with positive ROI
  • Global IT disposal concerns

The CITAD course will prepare individuals responsible for the disposal processes within an organization to integrate end-of-life strategies into the ITAM program to drive additional value through risk avoidance and financial return.

The first CITAD course will be offered on October 15 - 16, 2012, prior to the IAITAM 2012 Annual Conference and Exhibition. The CITAD course will be offered as a two-day in-person course or a 12-hour online course, broken up into four sessions, followed by an optional certification test.

"Initiating an ITAD program can help companies gain more value from their IT assets by understanding where, when and how an asset will be retired or ready for disposal as will foster a culture of social responsibility," said IAITAM's CEO, Barbara Rembiesa. "Implementing a proactive ITAD practice can create a self-sustaining program and in time potentially create a new corporate profit center."

"As the green movement and the demand for greater corporate social responsibility have grown over the last decade, it is no longer acceptable for organizations to throw out old technology or repurpose elsewhere without the proper paper trail and supporting processes. IT asset disposal is a serious corporate environmental obligation that should be taken to heart by both the private and public sectors and can reap huge benefits for the internal IT organization while, at the same time, being a good corporate citizen," continued Rembiesa.

IAITAM Certification Courses are designed to establish a viable professional development path for the IT Asset Managers and related occupations. In addition to CITAD, IAITAM offers certifications in the following:

  • Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM)
  • Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP)
  • Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM)
  • Certification in Mobility Asset Management (CMAM)
