Leading Orlando Dentist Now Offering Invisalign, Six Month Smiles at Comprehensive Family Dental Practice

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwired - November 28, 2014) - Overmeyer Family Dental, which provides some of the best Orlando cosmetic dental procedures, is now offering adult orthodontic solutions that give patients reliable alternatives to traditional metal braces.

This month the practice began offering both Invisalign and the Six Month Smiles technique of adult orthodontics.

Invisalign is a state-of-the-art orthodontic solution that uses a series of clear removable aligners to straighten teeth for those patients who don't like the idea of wearing metal brackets and wires. Six Month Smiles is an accelerated cosmetically focused orthodontic treatment that uses clear plastic brackets and tooth-colored wires to gently straighten teeth in an average of six months for those patients who don't want treatment to take one to two years.

Dr. Thomas Overmeyer, the owner of Overmeyer Family Dental, and his practice partner and daughter, Dr. Jessica Overmeyer, both recently became certified to offer the services.

Dr. Thomas Overmeyer said short-term orthodontics, such as Six Month Smiles, is so popular because a majority of adult patients looking for straighter teeth are only concerned about the teeth that show for a beautiful smile. Using this cosmetically focused technique of straightening teeth cuts down substantially on treatment time, making the procedure much more affordable than traditional braces.

Comprehensive orthodontic treatment such as traditional metal brackets and wires and Invisalign focus on straightening every tooth, thus making treatment times longer. The advantage of Invisalign is that it gently straightens teeth with nearly invisible, clear plastic aligner mouth pieces without unsightly metal brackets and wires.

"I am excited about the procedure because it answers all the complaints adults have about orthodontics," the Orlando dentist said. "Most people, age 17 and up, don't want to wear metal braces and don't want to be treated for two-plus years. Six Month Smiles or Invisalign are both ideal treatment options for those patients."

Overmeyer Family Dental provides preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry for patients 3 years old to 103 years old. Individual services include fillings, extractions, wisdom teeth extractions, root canals, partial dentures, full dentures, mini and standard implants, dental porcelain veneers, Six Month Smiles, Invisalign, sleep apnea treatments and all of the usual general dental procedures. The practice provides mouth guards for patients who grind or clench their teeth, as well as the "Silent Nite" anti-snore device.

Dr. Thomas Overmeyer was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., and graduated high school in Ohio in 1974. In 1977, he graduated cum laude from Ohio State University, receiving his bachelor's of science degree in microbiology in just three years. He then graduated from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry in 1980 and attended a general practice residency program at the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo. After dental school and his residency program, Dr. Thomas Overmeyer moved to Florida and spent seven months as a dental associate before buying his own practice. Dr. Thomas Overmeyer has advanced training in mini and standard implants, Six Month Smiles, Invisalign and LANAP laser gum treatment.

Dr. Jessica Overmeyer, a Florida native, received her bachelor's of science degree in biology from the University of Florida, where she also minored in business and Spanish. She also attended The Ohio State University School of Dentistry, graduating in 2014. She joined her father's practice earlier this year. Dr. Jessica Overmeyer holds certifications in mini dental implants, Invisalign and Six Month Smiles.

Dr. Thomas Overmeyer bought the Orlando dental office that is now Overmeyer Family Dental in June 1982. Overmeyer Family Dental moved to a new office building in February of 1984. The 1500-square-foot facility was recently remodeled and includes six treatment rooms and state of the art dental equipment. Dr. Thomas Overmeyer uses the Periolase laser to treat periodontal disease, a method that he has found to be more effective than traditional gum surgery. He also uses digital X-rays to diagnose and educate patients about oral health issues.
