Leading Professional Services Firm in Australia Optimizes Network Operations With Infoblox Appliances

SANTA CLARA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 5, 2007 -- Infoblox Inc., a developer of essential infrastructure for identity-driven networks (IDNs), today announced that GHD, an Australia-based international professional services firm ranked among the world's top 30 engineering and architecture companies, has selected and deployed Infoblox appliances to reduce the management complexity of its domain name resolution (DNS) systems.

Established in 1928, GHD, which has more than 4,700 employees, AU $500 million in annual revenue and operations in 12 countries, including New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East, the United Kingdom and the Americas, serves the global market sectors of infrastructure, mining, defense, commercial property and buildings. GHD's network -- used to connect its team of specialists and GHD's clients -- is central to the company's success. Delivering nonstop DNS service and real-time, effective administration of DNS records is essential to keeping the network accessible and running smoothly 24x7.

Previously, GHD relied on a variety of country-specific service providers to manage its DNS services, but found this produced unnecessary costs, contract negotiations, limited IP address usage, and caused DNS administration delays that impacted effective network operation.

After evaluating several options that the team found too administratively burdensome and vulnerable to attacks, GHD purchased purpose-built, hardened Infoblox appliances with the DNSone package and Keystone upgrade for global, enterprise-wide delivery and management of all external DNS services. Doing so eliminated more than 10 different ISP contracts and annual negotiation cycles, gave GHD control of all their domains, and helped simplify network complexity by aggregating Internet gateways.

Mark Balanay, IT Operations Manager at GHD, commented, "In addition to eliminating our reliance on various in-country ISPs, Infoblox provides the ability to centrally manage delivery of DNS services for all our sites; this allows us to make immediate changes and updates, which previously could have taken days for an ISP to implement. Further, the hardened appliance systems help us meet strict security and compliance requirements."

Currently, GHD's configuration includes one hidden primary Infoblox appliance and two external secondary Infoblox appliances, respectively in Charlotte Street and a co-location facility in Brisbane. The Keystone upgrade links the appliances into an "ID grid" that helps provide real-time central configuration capabilities, enterprise-wide DNS record updates and software upgrades.

In the future, GHD plans to consider leveraging the Infoblox appliances for internal DNS, IP address assignment (DHCP), and authentication (RADIUS) services in conjunction with Microsoft Active Directory.
