Leading Traceability Consultant Michael McCartney Joins Sensitel Board of Advisors, Adding Produce Industry Expertise

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - April 15, 2008) - Sensitel Inc., a leading provider of software solutions for reducing shrinkage, announced today that well-known traceability and RFID consultant, Michael G. McCartney, has joined the company's Board of Advisors.

"Michael is a visionary who has been a guiding force in bringing innovative technologies to perishables and grocery industries," said Sensitel CEO Mohinder Sikka. "Michael McCartney led the produce industry in setting up the very first RFID test center in Salinas, California and has contributed immensely to the awareness of traceability and safety in food chains."

Michael is the Principal at Quality Logistics Management. For the past eight years, his consulting practice has focused on RFID technology and implementation, specializing in all phases of RFID deployment and supply chain management. He has deep business expertise in reuse of returnable containers of all types, having redesigned containers for RFID. Michael is currently leading the testing of returnable containers for the 26-member Reusable Pallet and Container Coalition, with a goal to identify the right RFID tag and the right RFID locations for each of the participating companies.

"Having conducted some of the industry's most innovative pilot projects in returnable plastic containers, RFID embedded corrugated containers, temperature monitoring and product recalls, Michael has an intimate understanding of perishable industry's current requirements and future trends. He brings the voice of customers to our product and solution designs," Sikka added.

Sensitel is developing end-to-end traceability solutions, leveraging RFID and sensory networks for the produce and perishables industries. Sensitel's TagMap™ is the first product in the market to aggregate location, condition, and quality information for real-time control of distributed supply chains.

"As we move into an era of globalization and product proliferation, tracking events in the supply chain to ensure product safety will become a key differentiator for suppliers. Companies that invest in systematic approaches leveraging technology stand to benefit and capture market share in a fast globalizing food chain," said Michael. "Sensitel's technology is a welcome development in perishables, particularly for produce suppliers, who stand to realize immediate bottom line improvements while complying with regulations. I am excited to be associated with Sensitel as they solve this critical need in the market."

Michael is an active EPCglobal member and is the former chair of the PMA's RFID Produce Action Group. Prior to his consulting career, Michael was the president of ITEL, the largest rail-car leasing company in U.S and also acted as President of the largest returnable container company, IFCO systems, Munich, Germany for 18 months.
