Learning Trends Merges With Abrams & Company Publishers

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - September 12, 2008) - Austin-based Learning Trends, LLC, announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary Abrams Acquisition Corp., Inc., has merged with Abrams & Company Publishers, Inc., of Waterbury, CT.

Abrams & Company is best known as the publisher of The Letter People® family of products for the early-childhood education market. Founders Richard and Patricia Abrams have successfully created and reinvented skills-based literacy programs around the Letter People for 20 years. In recent years, they have greatly expanded the Abrams product line to include math, science, and leveled-reader programs for early childhood. Patricia Abrams is retiring, while Richard Abrams will remain a valued consultant to the Company.

Learning Trends was founded by publishing veterans Roy Mayers, Gunnar Voltz, Leslie Ford, and Lynn Keller, who have worked together and separately with many well known supplementary publishers, including Steck-Vaughn, Rigby, Options, Peoples, Modern Curriculum Press, and Simon & Schuster.

"As a team, we are excited about the opportunity of working together again," said Abrams & Company's new president, Roy Mayers. "We see the Abrams brand as the launching point for many new early-childhood programs and are looking forward to working with the very talented and knowledgeable Abrams staff."

Abrams & Company will continue to operate from its offices in Waterbury, CT, under the name of Abrams Learning Trends. The Company plans to grow through internal publishing, distribution arrangements, and further acquisition. New York-based merger and acquisitions advisory firm, Whitestone Communications, represented Abrams in this transaction.
