Leasing the latest twist in making cottaging affordable

You lease your car, you lease your computer ... why not lease your cottage? Attention: Business/Financial Editor, Home/Garden Editor, Lifestyle Editor, News Editor, Travel/Tourism Editor BANCROFT, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 18, 2005) - You lease your car, and even your computer … so why not lease your cottage?

Leasing is how you make a cottage worth at least $2,000 a week to rent, cost only $740 per week.

Forest View Cottages on Baptiste Lake near Bancroft has introduced a new twist to cottage vacationing with its fractional lease program. It's a twist that makes cottaging more affordable. Buyers receive five weeks of cottage time each year for the next 50 years in a premium log cottage for just $59,900. Fractional leasing allows the price of the cottages to be kept low because buyers are not paying for the building or land - just the time they use. The $740 per week ($3,700 per year) includes the cost of maintenance and housekeeping.

Forest View Cottages will house 10 cottages on 12.5 acres of land, a tennis court, indoor pool, hot-tub facility, children's playground and putting green. Fishing is excellent and there are restaurants, golf courses, theatre, snowmobile trails, hiking and activities to keep the family busy throughout the whole year. Occupancy is January 2006.

Fractional leasing involves a number of families sharing the use of one cottage, at separate times throughout the year. Forest View Cottage buyers are protected by having their leases registered against the property title. The quality of maintenance, furnishing and recreational facilities is spelled out in the lease to further protect them. Lease holders can sell their leases or transfer them to family or friends.

The cottages are built by 1867 Confederation Log Homes and feature the company's signature square-timber construction, dovetail joints and square-timber interior walls.

The model cottage is open each weekend, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays by appointment. Private tours are offered. Visit the website at www.ForestViewCottages.com for further information, or call 613-332-3173. /For further information: Sue Walton or Craig Walton, 613-332-3173
