Lectra Launches Its PLM Offering for Fashion (Erratum)

Paris -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 10, 2006 -- A unique, revolutionary, innovative solution

Paris, April 10, 2006 - Lectra, the world leader in software, CAD/CAM equipment and related services dedicated to the fashion businesses, has launched its Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution for managing the product and collections lifecycle.

This enterprise software will enable Lectra customers to manage collections development processes and optimize the collaborative work of all internal participants and company partners in real time.

Specifically developed for the fashion markets, Lectra's PLM offering allows companies to shorten lead times and reduce costs associated with the conception of products in a context of permanently renewing collections. Providing continuous decision- making support, it rationalizes and improves the reliability of product development processes, and assures the synchronization and traceability of information flows. In addition, it optimizes the collaborative modes used between contractors and suppliers.

"Our PLM offering is consistent with our ongoing strategy to bring increasing added-value to our customers by providing them with leading-edge technologies that permit them to accelerate their product launches," said Lectra CEO, Daniel Harari. "This new offering represents a technological leap forward for the entire industry. It is the result of many years of research and development, involving a team of more than 100 engineers and technicians who will remain dedicated to its evolution. Our PLM offering capitalizes on the experience acquired through working with 17,000 customers for more than 30 years. Lectra is recognized for its business expertise, its deep knowledge of fashion processes, and its comprehensive understanding of the new challenges companies face in the post-quota world."

A dedicated, global offering

Fully configurable and built on a 100% Web-based platform, Lectra's PLM offering provides a functional richness that is unique on the market. Its transversal management applications optimize collaborative work as well as the skills and performance of all participants from the company and its ecosystem.

The first version, now available, is dedicated to brands and retailers. It enables them to manage all distributed products, such as garments, lingerie, accessories, and footwear.

A flexible offering in tune with the new requirements of the market

At the heart of the new PLM offering, the Product Development application allows companies to organize, manage and share all data related to the development of products and collections, including themes, models, materials, colors, technical specifications, patterns, bills of materials, suppliers and costs.

The Line Planning application defines and organizes collections around the strategic and business objectives of the company; it simulates and evaluates the impact of choices relative to different product lines.

The Workflow Management application organizes and controls activities related to collection projects, synchronizing the work of all participants involved in the product development process and identifying bottlenecks and potential delays in real time. This efficient management of workflow allows companies to improve responsiveness by defining priorities and necessary actions.

The Management Dashboard application represents a genuine piloting tool that provides decision makers with invaluable personalized performance indicators on all product activity through the various information system components.

Enterprise software developed in line with market standards

Lectra's new PLM offering is based on an open technology platform that is 100% Web-based and fully configurable, supporting market technologies and standards including J2EE, Web Services and JDBC, Oracle databases, SQL Server, DB2 or CloudScape. The offering synchronizes with other customer enterprise applications (CRM, SCM, ERP) through an ETL/EAI (Extract Transform Load/Enterprise Application Integration) application.

A close link with Lectra's business applications

Lectra's PLM offering will soon be linked to the company's various business applications (for design, pattern making and prototyping), permitting the optimization of collections development processes. These world-renowned applications assure optimal quality and execution speed of all tasks related to the creation and development of products. The design applications enable the conception of trend boards, fabric and textile motifs, models and silhouettes for simulation, and the visual presentation of product lines by theme. The pattern-making and prototyping applications permit the design of patterns and the rapid realization of physical prototypes. Beginning in mid-2006, these applications will also allow 3D visualization and validation of virtual prototypes.

Furthermore, a future version of Lectra's PLM offering will permit color finalization and validation.

Personalized consulting and support services

In addition to the configuration and integration of the software, consulting, change management support, training and deployment of the PLM offering will be assured—in partnership with each customer—by Lectra's business consultants and experts who fully grasp customers' processes and provide them with the most relevant solutions.

"With our PLM offering, we help our customers overcome the challenges they face today, such as responding to the demands of their consumers and optimizing their relationships with suppliers and partners, no matter how numerous or geographically dispersed they may be. The signature of a first contract with Mango—where our PLM solution will initially be used by more than 800 Mango employees and suppliers involved in the design and development of the 70 million garments and accessories the company produces annually—is a testimony to the strength of our offering," declared Lectra's PLM Director, Pascal Denizart.
