Lee County Electric Cooperative Selects Marathon Health as Onsite Health Services Provider

BURLINGTON, VT--(Marketwire - Jun 11, 2012) - Marathon Health, Inc. today announced its selection to provide onsite health services for Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC) employees and their dependents.

LCEC, based in Fort Myers, Fla., is a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative serving a five-county area in Southwest Florida. It is one of the largest electric cooperatives in the nation with more than 8,000 miles of distribution and transmission lines. Marathon Health will provide LCEC employees and their families with its MedicalHome@Work™ model, which includes primary care, occupational medicine, health assessments, health coaching, and disease management.

LCEC contracted with Marathon Health to provide convenient access to high-quality care and to motivate employees and their families to pursue healthier lifestyles. The Marathon Health model moves away from 'sick care' toward a solution focused on the whole person, not just their symptoms. It is a model that is proven to help employees across the health continuum maintain or improve their health status. At the same time, this model is proven to reduce the increasing burden of healthcare costs. LCEC CEO Dennie Hamilton said LCEC decided to become an early adopter of the onsite healthcare model because healthier employees can be more focused and productive both at work and at home.

"We pride ourselves on being a forward-thinking organization, and this initiative continues in that vein to offer our employees programs that maintain a positive workplace," Hamilton said. "Marathon Health's mission and technology aligned with our goals and objectives, and together we will work to drive down the healthcare costs to help keep electric rates competitive."

Marathon Health CEO Jerry Ford said the MedicalHome@Work™ solution is the next generation in health management and his team is eager to provide this solution to the employees and families of LCEC.

"We're honored to be working with an organization with as strong of a reputation as LCEC has," Ford said. "We've been fortunate to work with other employers in the Fort Myers region and look forward to continue offering services that help people reshape the way they experience healthcare."
