Leeds Marriott Hotel Invites Local Care Homes for Afternoon Tea

Premier Hotel in Leeds City Centre Delights at Serving the Local Community

LEEDS, ENGLAND--(Marketwire - Feb 1, 2013) - Extending its hospitality to those outside the hotel, a premier hotel in Leeds City Centre invited the residents of three local care homes to a special Afternoon Tea Party in August that included the customary refreshments, games and entertainment.

Hosted by the Associate Relations Committee of the Leeds Marriott Hotel, the event stemmed from the core values of Marriott International and its dedication to social responsibility which support an ever present "spirit to serve" in the hopes of creating a more vibrant culture, stronger business and the world a better place. Spearheaded by Charlene Redfern, Reception Shift Leader and committee chairperson, the event was geared at following Marriott's commitment on the local level by hosting an event that would impact the community.

"Earlier this year we raised just short of £1000 for Fairbridge, Marriott's chosen charity by arranging a sponsored run from Leeds to Liverpool along the canal," said Redfern, whose committee is dedicated to ensuring this luxury hotel and spa in Leeds lives and breathes the Marriott's "spirit to serve." "This summer we decided to do something for our local community so the committee got together and decided to put on an afternoon tea party."

Residents from three local care homes attended the event at the hotel near Royal Armouries and lavished in the elegant surroundings of the magnificent Thomas Ambler Suite where the committee arranged for the hotel restaurant in Leeds City Centre to serve Afternoon Tea. Associates were on hand to assist with the event which also included a raffle, quiz and a few games of Bingo. Residents attending were from Berkeley Court, Harehills; Maria Mallaband, from Upper Wortley and Seacroft, and Alexandra Court, West Park.

"I would just like to express my deepest gratitude to the Leeds Marriott for looking after our residents so well on their visit. They enjoyed it immensely as did all the volunteers who accompanied them," expressed Marilouise Nelson, director of Alexandra Court. "My residents have commented on how the associates at the hotel couldn't do enough for them and how well they were treated. They enjoyed all the activities and the food so much that they would all love to come back! Once again, thank you for giving them all such a special day. It was a wonderful afternoon and our residents are still discussing between themselves how much they enjoyed it!"
