Leerink Swann Creates Exclusive Alliance With KBT Partners to Enhance Its MEDACorp Healthcare Information Technology (HCIT) Platform

BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 8, 2007 -- In a move that will expand its presence in Healthcare Information Technology (HCIT), healthcare investment bank Leerink Swann today announced an exclusive alliance with KBT Partners, a newly formed HCIT management services firm.

KBT Partners is comprised of three principals, M/s. Michael B. Kaufman, Hans Boerma, MD, and Satish K. Tyagi, respectively. They bring deep expertise in HCIT, and its critical role in clinical practice, acquired in diverse roles as entrepreneurs and corporate executives, as well as on Wall Street and in venture capital. Mr. Kaufman most recently led corporate development activities for Eclipsys Corp., having previously merged his patient financial software company, SDK Healthcare Information Systems, into Eclipsys. Dr. Boerma was also most recently with Eclipsys where he directed the product portfolio and has held similar roles at SMS/Siemens. Mr. Tyagi initiated Wall Street research coverage of the HCIT sector in the 1990s as an analyst, and has been a Venture Partner focused on HCIT for SV Life Sciences.

Under this agreement, they will become exclusive consultants within Leerink Swann's MEDACorp network, which is comprised of over 26,000 healthcare and biomedical professionals.

"The strategic and practical insights that Michael, Hans, and Satish can deliver to our clients will be immensely valuable. Our banking platform, supported by the MEDACorp network, is predicated on delivering knowledge-based solutions for companies, entrepreneurs, VCs and institutional investors," said Jeffrey A. Leerink, Chairman and CEO of Leerink Swann. "By combining the advisory capabilities of KBT partners with our banking platform, Leerink Swann will be uniquely positioned to address the emerging needs of our HCIT clients to enable them to be successful throughout the various lifecycle stages of their companies," Leerink continued.

Michael Kaufman of KBT Partners concurred. "Leerink Swann's MEDACorp network and banking platform is an outstanding vehicle to leverage our industry presence. Through our exclusive arrangement, HCIT clients now have unequalled access to a premier advisory service coupled with premier healthcare investment banking."

As part of this industry initiative, Leerink Swann and KBT Partners are planning to host an HCIT conference for select companies and investors in the fall of 2007.
