Legendary Baseball Coach Joins SmartSports Senior Management Team

Mike Roberts Named Director of Baseball Development

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - Sep 27, 2011) - He's won five Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) baseball titles, coached two Division 1 teams in the College Baseball World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, coached 14 Major League Baseball players including three All Stars and now Mike Roberts will head up baseball development for SmartSports which will soon launch its revolutionary SmartKage system. After playing professional baseball in the Kansas City Royals organization Roberts returned to his alma mater, the University of North Carolina, to become the programs baseball coach at the tender age of 26. He coached Division 1 Baseball for 24 years and continues as Head Coach of the Cotuit Kettleers in the renowned Cape Cod Collegiate Summer League. The author of "You Can't Steal Second Base and Keep Your Foot on First" Roberts earned BA and MA degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently working toward his doctorate at the University of New Mexico-Albuquerque. His son Brian, one of his star pupils, is currently an All-Star second baseman for the Baltimore Orioles.
