DANA POINT, CA--(Marketwire - Nov 29, 2011) - The Dana Point Concours d'Elegance, host of the premier celebration of automotive heritage in Southern California, announced the theme for the 2012 Dana Point Concours d'Elegance®: "Legends of Le Mans: Racing in the '60s." The Concours is scheduled for June 23 - 24, at the St. Regis Monarch Beach resort, and will feature more than 200 European and American classics and over 50 vintage motorcycles.

"The 1960s were legendary in the automotive world with names like Shelby, Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus and Alfa Romeo, competing to be the best in the world," said Jeff Spellens, Dana Point Concours president. "We're celebrating that history during our event."

The Concours will introduce special classes, including the Legends of Le Mans Race Car class. The Shelby Cars class will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Shelby American. Ducati will also be the featured Marque in the vintage motorcycles class.

"This event is for the serious collectors and the amateur enthusiasts," noted Spellens. "Not only are we introducing some new activities, such as the Beach Cruisers Show, we're also bringing back popular traditions like the Private Collection Tour and Art Exhibit."

The highlight of the weekend will begin Sunday morning as display vehicles check-in for the Concours starting at 6:30 a.m. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to compete in over 30 classes and vie for some of the most prestigious awards, including Best of Show.
