Legrand | Ortronics Introduces Ortronics CFD Analysis, Powered by SubZero Engineering

Intelligent Airflow Management Services

NEW LONDON, CT--(Marketwire - Jun 22, 2011) - Legrand | Ortronics, a global leader in high performance network infrastructure solutions, introduces Ortronics® CFD Analysis, powered by SubZero Engineering. "This new service will provide enormous opportunities to improve network performance and save energy by identifying and addressing the most advanced cooling needs of data centers," said Lars Larsen, physical support product manager.

A Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis is the first step to creating an optimized airflow management program. CFD analysis models the fluid dynamics that control airflow and temperature distribution and simulates the cooling performance and heat transfer in data centers.

Legrand | Ortronics and SubZero Engineering together bring a depth of experience that provides a distinct advantage when assessing an existing data center or a new facility to create optimal network performance and efficient cooling. Our combined experience includes performing over 300 CFD studies for data centers throughout the U.S.

The key to creating an accurate CFD report is the data gathering process. An Ortronics CFD Analysis uses proprietary tablet software to ensure accurate data gathering. During data gathering, an Ortronics CFD Analysis provides a broad spectrum of information such as a full equipment inventory; rack kW usage, airflow obstruction data, etc. We inventory all equipment by location, make, model and heat load. These reports can help in capacity, footprint and hardware planning.

The Ortronics CFD Analysis provides an additional facet to the Layer Zero™ solution. Layer Zero is the proposed infrastructure layer for the ISO/OSI model introduced by Legrand | Ortronics. Layer Zero - the Infrastructure Layer™ - addresses the critical role that the physical infrastructure plays in network performance.

Layer Zero solutions encompass the entire physical infrastructure that supports your network, including aisle containment, racks, cabinets, advanced cable management, pathway solutions, underfloor and overhead systems. By recognizing the importance of the underlying infrastructure layer and emphasizing best practices in pathway and physical support design, a new level of stability can be created for the network.
