Leica Updates the T-Series With Firmware and Two New Lenses; More Info: B&H

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - November 05, 2015) - B&H Photo would like to share the announcement of a new firmware update for the Leica T (Typ 701). Update 1.4 is designed to improve the overall speed and performance of the camera by shortening the start-up time, enhancing the autofocus speed and precision, and refining the touch control functionality. Additionally, improvements to Wi-Fi stability have also been added for more secure remote shooting from a smartphone or tablet.

The black Leica T Mirrorless Digital Camera is a compact interchangeable lens camera body featuring a 16.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor housed in a solid aluminum alloy unibody design with the Leica T lens mount for attaching optional lenses.

In addition to the firmware update, Leica has also announced the development of two new prime lenses for their L-mount mirrorless camera system. The Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 ASPH. is designed for use on the APS-C-format T (Typ 701), or on the full-frame SL (Typ 601) in APS-C mode, and provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length. The lens design pairs a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture with aspherical elements to produce well-corrected imagery in a variety of lighting conditions. Also announced is the APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60mm f/2.8 ASPH., which is the first macro lens available for the system and provides a 90mm equivalent focal length. This lens features an apochromatic design, and utilizes aspherical elements, to produce sharp, clean, and color-accurate imagery throughout the focusing range.

The Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH Lens fromLeica provides high quality optics for excellent performance in a variety of applications. The aperture range starts at a fast f/1.4 for available light and stops all the way down to f/16 for use in many scenarios, such as landscapes or images requiring great depth-of-field.
