Lerner Entertainment Group Announces That It Has Completed Post-Production on the Highly Anticipated Urban Comedy "Meet The Family"

CENTURY CITY, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 1, 2005 -- Century City-based Lerner Entertainment Group announced today that it has completed post-production on the highly anticipated urban comedy "Meet The Family." Adapted from the hit dinner show that ran at the Downtown Los Angeles Hyatt, Writer, Director, Producer, Stan Lerner says, "The movie is true to the play." The dinner show literally took place around a dinner table where guests were actually allowed to buy seats and sit and eat with the cast while they performed the show. Lerner went on to say, "There were a lot of people that thought the movie should go out of the single setting of the Rump Family's dining room, but I wasn't one of them. I watched night after night as the play caused people to laugh until they cried and decided that the movie would continue to be about what the Rumps are saying not doing. The challenge of course was to make a movie audience feel like they were sitting at the table and with the help of Academy Award-winning editor Scott Conrad, I think the movie accomplishes that goal to an extent that I barely dared to dream of."

Lerner Entertainment Group has begun preliminary discussions with potential distributors, but does not anticipate completing a deal prior to the conclusion of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. Lerner says, "We know from its initial screenings that 'Meet The Family' is a special project, which makes it particularly important that whoever our distribution relationship is with, that it be with a company that understands the urban comedy market. 'Meet The Family' pushes the envelope in so many ways, it really needs to be brought to the market by a forward-thinking company."

Shot on HD Varicam equipped with special Fujinon lenses and recorded directly to uncompressed D5 decks, "Meet The Family" is the most technically advanced independent feature shot to date. About HD Lerner says, "There are a lot of people who talk about HD and there are several companies that say they have integrated HD solutions and the fact is that it's just not true. HD workflow is an entirely different experience, right now it is more of an art than a science, if you're going to shoot in real HD you better know what you're doing. Personally I'm very happy with the protocols we've developed and plan to continue to shoot HD, but when everyone tells you 'Hey George Lucas shoots HD' it's best to remember he's George Lucas."

Filmmaker Stan Lerner most recently produced the live show spectacle "Night Tribe" at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and the critically acclaimed best-selling video "Mike Fenton's Actors Workshop." He is also the author of the best selling ebook "LA Player." Lerner says, "I had always dreamed of being a film maker. The fact that I had the opportunity to turn one of my own shows into a movie is just the icing on the cake. It's like having two children, they're different, but you love them both equally." Lerner is currently working on a crime novel with an anticipated completion date of December 2005.
