Leslie Kelly Hall Appointed to Health Information Technology Standards Committee and Carequality Steering Committee

A Leading Voice for Health Information Exchange and Use

BOISE, ID--(Marketwired - Nov 13, 2014) - "No decision about me without me." This has been Leslie Kelly Hall's mantra as a patient advocate, a role that was recently validated with her appointment to two committees at the forefront of the health information exchange and use movement.

Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell reappointed Hall, senior vice president of policy for Healthwise, a nonprofit that provides health education, technology and services to help people make better health decisions, to the Health Information Technology Standards Committee (HITSC).

Healtheway, a non-profit, public-private collaborative focused on supporting and enabling health information exchange, has appointed Hall to the newly formed Carequality Steering Committee.

Widely recognized as a leader in health care information technology, Hall brings over 30 years of experience to these roles.

"Healthwise was built on the idea that the greatest untapped resource in health care is the patient. When people have access to their own health information and are educated about their options, they can become active partners in their care," said Hall. "As a consumer and patient advocate, my role is to make sure national health information technology interoperates in a way that helps all stakeholders in care, most importantly the patient, make better and more informed health decisions."

And as part of the HITSC, Hall will support standards that enable connectivity and integration of the patient, their data, goals, values and direction in care.

The HITSC is tasked with advising the National Coordinator for Health IT on standards, implementation, and certification of health information exchange and use. And the Carequality Steering Committee will develop and maintain a standard interoperability framework for health information exchange that bridges the current gap between systems of care, providers, patients, vendors, and geographies.
