A new Kickstarter campaign is targeting foodies and urban families on the go with an easy way to grow food at home. Vancouver-based Let's Patch (letspatch.com) kicks off a campaign today to raise funds for their innovative self-watering Patch Planters.

The first ever self-watering Patch Planters feature a sub irrigation system that ensures plants have the perfect amount of water and eliminates the biggest challenge for growers: watering. With an origami-inspired, fully-collapsible design, Patch Planters are created to suit small spaces and make growing fresh herbs and greens in an urban setting easier than ever.

"There's nothing better or more nutritious to grow than fresh herbs and leafy greens," says Let's Patch founder Kent Houston. "More vegetable seeds are being sold than flower seeds today, but it's not always the easiest thing to pull off. We saw an opportunity to help people in urban areas grow food in a simple, fun and stylish way. It's even kid-friendly."

After a beta launch with their local community and a handful of children's food education programs, such as Growing Chefs, Let's Patch turns to the crowd funding platform Kickstarter to raise awareness and funds for the next phase of manufacturing.

"With Kickstarter we can bypass investors, get real metrics about our market and showcase the forward-thinking innovation behind our self-watering Patch Planters," says Houston. "We need to go from beta to mega make this game-changing method of growing food a reality and make a positive impact on communities around the world."
