Leveraging Electronic Production Records for Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

BREA, CA--(Marketwire - March 21, 2011) - Parsec Automation Corp., developer of TrakSYS™ and a leader in real-time manufacturing operations and performance management software, will present a 45-minute webinar designed to show how pharmaceutical manufacturers and other companies can leverage the benefits of full electronic production records. The webinar will be held on Wednesday, March 23.

Typically pharmaceutical manufacturers rely on electronic batch records (EBR) to ensure compliance with the Food and Drug Administration's 21 CFR Part 11 rules and other regulatory requirements. A full electronic production record provides all the benefits of EBR, and also captures data that can help manufacturers validate product quality and ingredient integrity. It can also improve overall factory performance and offer other operational and business benefits that extend well beyond regulatory compliance applications.

"The EBR is a subset of a full electronic production record," said Tom Muth, director of marketing at Parsec Automation. "Our goal is to show that in most manufacturing operations a lot of vital, actionable information is not electronically captured, such as task, workflow, operator and quality observations, and upstream pre-production actions associated with producing pharmaceutical products. With electronic production records, we achieve a complete plant floor view that covers the full spectrum of processes and activities from point of order to shipping, including EBR."

Muth noted that electronic production record strategies are not designed to replace traditional SCADA or MES systems. Instead, electronic production records can enhance existing systems and installations with a unifying production record environment that concurrently supports regulatory compliance.

"Electronic production records can shorten a company's value stream so that operations are more efficient, performance is increased and waste is reduced," Muth said.

The webinar will feature a demonstration of Parsec's TrakSYS software for delivering a complete end-to-end electronic production record for pharmaceutical manufacturing, and will include examples of the application of electronic production records for related operations such as food and beverage manufacturing.

The webinar will be offered twice on March 23, at 7 a.m. PDT (3 p.m. GMT) and 1 p.m. PDT (9 p.m. GMT). Registration is free and available at the following link: http://www.parsec-corp.com/traksys_webinar_ebr.asp
