Lewis University Deploys Proxim Wireless Outdoor Wi-Fi® Mesh Solution to Expand Campus Network and Increase Security

Network Provides Ubiquitous Wi-Fi Internet Access and a Safer Learning Environment

SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 3, 2007 --Proxim Wireless Corporation, a global pioneer of end-to-end solutions in Wi-Fi mesh, WiMAX, WLAN, and wireless backhaul and wholly owned subsidiary of Terabeam, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRBM), today announced that Lewis University, a private university located southwest of Chicago in Romeoville, Illinois, has selected and deployed Proxim's ORiNOCO® AP-4000MR Wi-Fi mesh access points to expand its existing Proxim indoor wireless network outdoors and support wireless camera security on campus. Assisting Lewis University in network design and deployment is Fiber in the Sky, a systems consulting, integration, and installation company specializing in wireless networking and Proxim Wireless Platinum partner.

The Lewis University main campus is a 350-acre setting serving over 5,200 students and housing more than 1,000 students in 11 residence halls. Lewis satellite campuses are located in Oak Brook, Tinley Park, Hickory Hills, and Shorewood, Illinois, and ultimately the Proxim outdoor mesh network will be expanded to support those locations as well.

In a mesh network, nodes provide Wi-Fi access to end users while also connecting to each other to share bandwidth, identify fastest routes around the network, and enable complete redundancy. Proxim's mesh technology simplifies Wi-Fi deployments such as this campus-wide deployment through the ORiNOCO Mesh Creation Protocol (OMCP), which allows creation of self-forming and self-healing non-line of sight (NLOS) mesh networks. Proxim's Wi-Fi mesh products feature a dual-radio configuration, increasing system capacity by allowing one radio to focus on Wi-Fi access and the other radio to perform mesh backhaul duties.

The ORiNOCO AP-4000MR family of ruggedized, dual-radio wireless mesh access points deployed to support Lewis University is based on the world-renowned ORiNOCO enterprise-class Wi-Fi platform for metropolitan scale deployments.
