LexisNexis Canada Appoints New CEO as Company Plans to Enhance Innovative Offerings

Appointment of Loik Amis will support innovation and strategic solutions for the Canadian legal industry

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 13, 2013) - LexisNexis® Canada (www.lexisnexis.ca), a leading provider of information and technology solutions, announced today the appointment of Loik Amis to the position of Chief Executive Officer. In his new role, he will lead LexisNexis Canada in its continued development of leading-edge technology and workflow solutions.

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Amis acted as Director of Business Development, Strategy, and Marketing at LexisNexis France, where he led strategy and business development, strategic and product marketing, communications and pricing. In addition, he was Executive Director of an innovative new online service for the French legal market launched with great success in 2012. Amis has more than 10 years of experience in the legal industry, primarily in marketing, market planning, strategy, business development and product management. Shortly after arriving at LexisNexis Canada, Amis was a key participant in the company's first-ever Canadian Leadership Summit, which brought together Canadian and international executives, corporate counsel, Federal Court justices, and senior partners from Canada's top law firms to discuss the future of the industry in Canada.

"The legal industry is constantly evolving, and true success hinges on being at the leading edge of technology and information to drive productivity, efficiency and profitability," said Judy Vezmar, Chief Executive Officer at LexisNexis International. "Loik's unique industry knowledge, background, and bilingualism give him the ideal mix of skills to lead our success in French and English Canadian markets."

LexisNexis Canada is a leading provider of content and technology solutions, including Quicklaw®, which was one of the world's first online legal research services and which is now celebrating its 40th anniversary. With the launch of Quicklaw® for Microsoft® Office, the product continues to move beyond research into a workflow solution that helps legal practitioners conduct background legal research more efficiently. A new online service that will be introduced in the coming months will deliver practical tools and working documents to support transactional legal activities, and later this year LexisNexis Canada will launch pilot-project versions of a digital library solution and of digital looseleaf services.

"LexisNexis Canada continues to provide Canadian content, technology, and thought leadership in the legal industry. It is a pleasure to work with such an experienced and knowledgeable team," said Amis. "I look forward to engaging with our Canadian customers and markets to further understand their unique needs and help them succeed in an evolving business environment."

Amis is a graduate of ESSEC, one of Europe's top business schools. Prior to joining LexisNexis in 2006, Amis held director-level roles at Larousse and Éditions Dalloz.
