Canadian style mavens and technophiles now have something in common-the cell phone series that has aroused the attention of both groups and topped must-have lists around the world is now available for Canadian consumption. LG Electronics Canada (LG) unveiled its long-awaited Chocolate Phone Series last night in a gala event as sleek, stylish and sexy as the phone itself.

The first Chocolate Phone to the market (LG 8500) will be available today through Telus. Other models of the Chocolate Phone will be available through the other major Canadian carriers in late November.

The Chocolate Phone Series was officially unwrapped and strutted down the catwalk by models wearing Montreal couture label SHAN's 2007 swimwear and lingerie collection in a world premiere runway show. Because it has been designed with unprecedented attention to ultra-modern detail and style, the Chocolate Phone Series has truly elevated the mobile phone from practical tool to fashion accessory.

The fusion of function and fashion anticipates the growing desire for cell phone users to express their unique personality and sense of style through their phones rather than simply use them. With 71 per cent of surveyed Canadians stating that a cell phone is an essential part of today's lifestyle, it only makes sense that people will crave a cell phone that looks as great as it works. According to the survey conducted by LG and Ipsos-Reid Canada (October 4-10, 2006), nearly half (47 per cent) of Canadians polled between the ages of 18 and 35 already agree that a cell phone should be stylish.

"Canadians are changing their habits when it comes to choosing mobile phones which has created great excitement around the launch of the Chocolate Phone Series," said Mr. William Cho, President and CEO of LG Electronics Canada Inc. "The Chocolate Phone Series gives LG an opportunity to really engage and appeal to Canadians who are more style-conscious. This phone brings a new level of style and sophistication to the Canadian market, and we're delighted to launch this phone in the prestigious company of one of Canada's leading fashion designers, Chantal Levesque and her new stunning designs."

"LG has thrust consumers into this sexy, stylish mindset with their Chocolate Phone Series-cell phones which are truly in a category of their own. With this launch, LG has become to electronics what Shan is presently in the fashion industry; the ultimate luxury and pure refinement. When people are connected to something this sexy they become more confident and more fierce," said Chantal Levesque, Founding Designer, SHAN. "I am thrilled that we were able to combine the worldwide debut of SHAN's 2007 collection with the launch of this exquisite phone series."

Already an icon of style and sophistication, the Chocolate Phone Series is as sensory pleasing and decadent as the rich delicacy it was named for. The Chocolate Phone Series is the result of a global design effort. With six design centres across the world, including Seoul, Milan, Beijing, New Delhi, Tokyo and New Jersey, LG Electronics shows commitment to following a design-led product development strategy, a strategy that will help establish LG as the number one manufacturer of design-focused mobile phones worldwide.

Additional Survey Results:

brackets. More than half (51 per cent) of Canadians aged 18-35
