Liard Industries Inc. Receives Financial Assistance From Government of Canada to Increase Productivity

JOLIETTE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 3, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that Joliette-based Liard Industries Inc. has been awarded $250,000 in repayable funding to increase its production capacity and productivity.

"The Government of Canada is pleased to lend its support to small and medium-sized enterprises that are doing their utmost to improve their productivity and thus strengthen their position in world markets," said the Minister.

Liard Industries Inc. specializes in the manufacture of equipment and machinery for, among others, the pulp and paper industry. This firm is one of the few in Quebec to produce machined moulds for manufacturers of precast concrete components used in the construction or repair of road infrastructure.

The funding from the Government of Canada is specifically intended for the purchase of a five-axis machining centre as part of a broader modernization and improvement project which includes acquiring production and quality inspection equipment, reconfiguring the plant and reducing testing costs. Liard Industries Inc.is therefore taking the necessary steps to offer its customers superior-quality products and expand its market.

The financial assistance from Canada Economic Development has been awarded through the Business and Regional Growth program.
