Libeo Recognized as One of the Fastest-Growing Companies in Quebec and Canada

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 4, 2012) - The firm Libéo continues to build on its outstanding momentum by ranking in 16th position in L'actualité magazine's annual ranking of Les Leaders de la croissance and in 95th position in the 24th annual PROFIT 200 ranking of Canada's Fastest-Growing Companies by five-year revenue growth.

"Recognized as a reference point in interactive, collaborative and mobile web applications based on free software, Libéo has enjoyed outstanding growth over the past five years, in particular by focusing on the constantly evolving free software market, where leading-edge technology and creativity go hand in hand," Libéo President Jean-François Rousseau points out.

"It's rewarding to be among the rising stars of the entrepreneurial new guard. It's all the more noteworthy in that this recognition isn't limited to the web, but extends to all sectors of activity," he states.

Pan-Canadian recognition

Its recognition in the 24th annual PROFIT 200 ranking and in the Québec magazine L'actualité's Les Leaders de la croissance ranking, which will be published on August 24th, both provide tangible evidence of the hard work the company has accomplished since it was founded in 1996, when it was known as SYS-TECH.

"These nominations have positioned Libéo as an important player nationwide in the free software market. Our business vision and our development have led to a 521% growth in revenue, for the benefit of both the company and the entire team behind us," says Libéo's General Manager Joé Bussière.

It should be noted that these two honours do not take into account Libéo's recent acquisition of Infoglobe, which was announced on March 30. Infoglobe is a firm recognized for its expertise in the world of free software, and this acquisition enabled Libéo to establish the hardest hitting team from this field in the entire province with a community of more than 60 specialists.

A 3rd OCTAS for Libéo

On June 2, during the OCTAS awards ceremony, Libéo earned top honours in the Learning Environment category for its Moodle DECclic III project. The project is used by some fifty college institutions and enables teachers and approximately 25,000 students to build a community around their courses with such functions as online quizzes, the deposit of documents, discussion forums, online exams, course follow-up presentations and the deposit of student papers.

"We moved our former platform to the open source Moodle. Moodle provides teachers and lecturers with access to a flexible and comprehensive learning environment for their students," Joé Bussière explains. "This project enabled us to win our third OCTAS in 2 years, which is the ultimate recognition for Libéo! It's a pleasure to work with clients who lead us to surpass ourselves and we're proud of the product we have developed for them," he adds.

It must be remembered that Libéo was awarded two OCTAS in 2011 for the creation of Touchbox, a complete online box office ticketing system.

Organized every year by Réseau ACTION TI, the OCTAS contest acknowledges excellence in the field of information technology (IT) in Quebec.
