The recent disaster in Japan has fueled further volatility, as Japan is the world's third largest consumer and the second largest importer. As of March, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimated that global oil demand expanded by 2.85% in 2010 and sees demand growth of 1.70% in 2011 and 1.94% in 2012. Reflecting new OPEC capacity additions, the EIA estimated that global oil supply increased by 2.5% in 2010 and forecast supply growth of 1.12% in 2011 and 2.49% in 2012
