Life Love & Health Show Named Finalist in Freddie Awards

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 17, 2008) - On the Path Productions LLC, a San Francisco media company, is pleased to announce its high-profile recognition by MediMedia, sponsor of the International Health & Medical Media Awards. OPP's Life Love & Health episode "First Call 911" was just named as a finalist for the 2008 "Freddie" award in the Audio Programming category.

"First Call 911," a 90-second PSA-style show produced in partnership with the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, is a quick first response checklist for a layperson confronting catastrophic injury or illness.

"What makes 'First Call 911' intensely engaging is that it's real. That's the power of the presentation, the emotional connection with the listener, all driven by dramatic movie-soundtrack style music," said Christopher Springmann, executive producer of OPP, creators of Life Love & Health. "The show is about a frightening ER event experienced by Dr. Latisha Smith, MD, now an Associate Professor of Anesthesia & Hyperbarics. But when this occurred, she was just out of med school," recounted Springmann.

"A couple presented with their one-year-old who had swallowed something and had stopped breathing. The child was literally dying as Dr. Smith looked into his throat, pediatric Magill forceps and laryngoscope in hand, to discover a drywall screw firmly lodged in the larynx. She extracted the screw, resuscitated the child and delivered the boy back to the parents."

The message? "Like the title says, 'First Call 911' and, please, take an American Heart Association CPR or Red Cross first-aid course. The parents didn't have a phone, but they did their best, as they bundled up their child and drove to the ER," said Springmann.

"This show has changed a lot of lives, mine included. I see Dr. Smith as an everyday hero, one exuding strength and courage. Her selfless act reinforces our commitment to producing health programming and reminds us why it's crucial to get the word out about prevention and wellness," added Springmann.

Life Love & Health, America's most listened-to daily 90-second health, prevention and wellness program, reaches over 6.4 million listeners on SIRIUS XM, CNN, Fox, ESPN; multiple Public Radio affiliates; in-store radio in 3200+ retail locations; HealthRadio.net; plus the Voice of America and American Forces Network.

OPP offers its congratulations to the Hispanic Communications Network, whose program "Conoce tu Corazon" won this year's first-ever Freddie Award in the new category of Audio Programming.
