LifeNexus CIO to Demonstrate Why Patient Engagement Is Essential to Creating Positive, Impactful Consumer Healthcare Experiences

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - January 13, 2015) - LifeNexus, creator of iChip®, announced today that chief information officer and product architect Ian Worden, MBA, MHI will present to the Arizona chapter of HIMSS (Health Information Management Systems Society) what patient engagement is and why it is essential to designing positive, impactful consumer healthcare experiences.

"As organizations continue to improve the quality and efficiency of care delivery, creating a positive and meaningful healthcare experience for each consumer has become more important than ever," said Worden. "However, creating a satisfying consumer experience alone won't help the healthcare industry change the patient behaviors necessary to drive clinical and financial outcomes. The industry also needs to look at how to create experiences that engage consumers and motivate them to take healthier actions."

Leveraging almost two decades as a thought leader and innovator in the design and development of healthcare products and services and population-based consumer engagement strategies, Worden has focused his career on understanding patient engagement, how it works and how it impacts the consumer. In his presentation, Worden will address the ambiguity of patient engagement and offer a clear definition for what it is as well as five essential elements of engagement that must be addressed to promote behavior change in individuals. Worden will then share with attendees how to create an experience that further fosters consumer engagement by meeting four key emotional consumer needs.

"I'm looking forward to helping healthcare experts gain a deeper understanding of what patient engagement is and what it can mean for their consumers," said Worden. "By sharing how patient engagement influences the consumer experience, healthcare experts and decision-makers can design solutions that not only create positive healthcare experiences, but also lead to better health outcomes."

The three-expert presentation entitled Demystifying Patient Engagement & Architecting Successful Engagement Strategies will be held Thursday, January 15th in Scottsdale, Arizona. The dinner event, open to both members and non-members will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at The McCormick Scottsdale (formerly Millennium Resort & Villas Scottsdale) on Thursday, January 15th.
