LifePics Releases "LifePics for iPad" App, Allowing iPad Users to View and Order Photos to LifePics Retailers

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - January 6, 2011) - LifePics today announced the release of its "LifePics for iPad" app, which allows iPad users to view and order photos from an iPad or online photo account to any store in the LifePics Network, as well as upload photos to online accounts. The iPad app is the latest app released through the LifePics OPEN program, an open API program that lets third party app developers create mobile or software apps to drive orders into the LifePics Network and make money on orders their apps generate.

"The iPad was a popular holiday gift last month, so as more people begin to use it for photo storage and sharing, we are thrilled that our store is now a print option in the new LifePics for iPad app," said Howie Cohen, General Merchandise Buyer at The Bartell Drug Company. "People already use the iPad to store and view photos, but this app converts those behaviors into transactions for our business, as it allows people to order any of their photos from their iPad or online account to our stores."

Apple sold 1 million iPads twice as fast as it took to sell 1 million iPhones. Business Insider is predicting that Apple will soon sell 50 million iPads a year consistently. The LifePics for iPad app gives retailers in the LifePics Network a chance to connect with and receive photo orders from millions of iPad users, who can download the LifePics for iPad app for free. Users can access their existing LifePics account, or create a new one through any retailer in the LifePics Network. The app also helps users choose a location to order to based on GPS location, provides a map to the pickup location, and sends automatic confirmation emails when orders are complete. Users can order prints in a variety of popular sizes.

"Our new iPad app is exciting for us, as the iPad is yet another device that is now integrated with the LifePics Network," said Rick Patch, President and CEO of LifePics. "As the popularity of iPads and tablets continues to grow, LifePics will launch many more new and exciting apps and integrations through our OPEN program, linking more users and orders to our network of the best photofinishers around the world, and enhancing imaging experiences on these devices."
