Lifetronics Medical Inc. Scores First by Going Green

TORONTO, Ontario (December 13, 2010) - Medical equipment distributor Lifetronics Medical, Inc. has been awarded Gold Certification for its green practices by the Green Business League.

Attention: Business/Financial Editor, Environment Editor, Energy Editor, Health/Medical Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO, MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - Dec. 13, 2010) - "We are the first medical distribution company in North America to achieve this" says Kelly Pearce, President, Lifetronics. "Innovation has always been at the forefront of our philosophy, and this is another way in which we feel we can lead the way. I believe companies have a responsibility to the community to minimize their use of resources, but it's also important for us to invest in activities that improve our bottom line. I firmly believe that going green will do that."

In order to gain this status, Lifetronics underwent a stringent audit of its practices and procedures by a Certified Green Consultant from the Green Business League, the largest green certification organisation in North America, and the only one to offer on-site auditing.

The audit looked at: energy and water consumption; waste production; indoor air quality (affected by products used on the premises); shipping and transport; recycling; packaging materials, supplies and equipment purchases. Lifetronics earned points for every sustainable or "green' practice it adopted.

"Most medical companies do not make this a priority so we are kind of unique", says Pearce, "but we want to take this as far as we can go." The company will be audited every year, and has the opportunity to gain higher certification as it increases its sustainable practices and procedures.

As government departments and large organizations start to take notice of their environmental footprint, and that of their suppliers, sustainability will become a factor in RFP's (Requests for Proposals), claims Pearce, and he says Lifetronics is well placed to compete in this new marketplace. "It's a social responsibility," he says, "but it's also about improving the triple bottom line - People, Planet, Profit."
