Lightower Drives Conversation About Changing North American Telecom Landscape

Capacity North America 2013 Keynote Panel to Focus on M&A and Investment

BOXBOROUGH, MA--(Marketwired - Oct 17, 2013) -  Lightower Fiber Networks, the premier provider of custom, high-capacity network services that ensure optimal application and business performance, announces today that Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Philip Olivero will participate in Capacity North America's opening keynote panel titled, "Reshaping the North American Telco Landscape." The Capacity North America 2013 event takes place October 23-24 at the Hilton Toronto in Ontario, Canada.

The Capacity North America keynote panel will dissect the trends impacting the North American telecom industry, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and consolidation activity. In addition, the panel will address the biggest opportunities emerging for the future, navigating a challenging financial climate and the strongest investment and technology strategies for wholesale carriers doing business on the continent.

With new applications driving rapid changes in bandwidth demand and consolidation still widespread, the telecommunications industry in North America continues its dynamic path forward. In addition to Lightower's dramatic organic growth, the company has successfully completed seven acquisitions over the past six years, which have combined to establish Lightower as a key player in the North American telecom landscape. Lightower now boasts one of the largest and densest all-fiber networks in the United States, counting more than 20,000 route miles of fiber with more than 7,500 service locations.

"The adage 'the only constant is change' is particularly relevant in the telecommunications industry today," confirms Olivero. "To remain successful in our industry, service providers must constantly balance rapidly changing technology, a demanding customer base, strategic investment opportunities and a dynamic competitive environment that require us to be as cost-efficient as possible. The attendees at Capacity's North America event include our industry's leaders, so it will be an excellent forum to discuss these important issues."

In addition to Olivero, the Capacity North America keynote panel is comprised of Dean Prevost, President of Allstream; Frank Lamancusa, counsel at Bingham McCutcheon; Jesse Davis, Managing Director at Citi Group Global Markets; and Andrew Crouch, President of North America at Level (3) Communications.
