Light*Waves Concept Announced as Newest Member of the United States Green Building Council

MANHATTAN, NY--(Marketwire - September 11, 2007) - When two organizations believe in the same mission and strive towards the same noble goals it is only fitting that the two should come together. This is the case in today's announcement of Light*Waves Concept as the newest member of the United States Green Building Council.

Light*Waves Concept is a leading manufacturer and supplier of custom LED lighting systems for new construction, additions, and large scale remodeling projects. As a web-based company strategically located in the nerve center of the green revolution in New York City, Light*Waves Concept and their LED*Waves ( team have had the privilege of working with some of the top green designers on exciting and forward-thinking projects in the city and beyond. This is where Light*Waves Concept and the LED*Waves team started coming together with other current members of the United States Green Building Council.

"LED lighting is a major part of the movement to green our cities and save the environment," said Joel Slavis, Light*Waves Concept chief lighting designer. "As a lighting professional with over 35 years of experience, LEDs are the biggest revolutionizing force in lighting to ever come along; it is the most exciting change in lighting since the incandescent bulb was invented. The LED has fundamentally changed what a light bulb is and what lighting can do for our spaces! Not only the technology, but what that technology enables us to do design wise. But what I think is even more impactful, and important to my life and my children's lives, is the way it is reducing our impact on the environment directly and indirectly with LED lighting. The actual lights use 90% less energy, and last for nearly ten years. They are nearly heat free which results in lower power usage not only for the lights, but also cooling. Not to mention that facility managers love us because it greatly reduces their maintenance costs! This is what initially led to their involvement with the United States Green Building Council. We are working with guys who are already members and it is a natural extension of what we are already doing."

The United States Green Building Council is a community of leaders in the building and design fields working together to transform the way communities and the buildings in them are designed, built and operated. They work together to promote emerging technologies, collaborate to utilize them in the most constructive way to reduce our carbon foot print. Working together, many members are leaders in designing and completing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects. Today the LEED Green Building Rating System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.

"We are working to help our clients reach their design, environmental, and economic goals in their projects. These days many of these projects are LEED, and that means deciding the best way to light the buildings inside and out with LED lighting systems." Excitedly, Joel continued, "It is becoming easier every day as our palette of tools is becoming ever more expansive. Meanwhile the actual systems continue to become brighter, smaller, and cooler while using less electricity than we ever had hoped."
