Lilee Systems Sees Strong Momentum as Demand for Advanced Communications Systems for Railroad and Rail Transit Fuels Growth

Company Opens New Silicon Valley Office to Accommodate Expanding R&D, Engineering and Sales to Deliver Advanced Wireless Communication Solutions for Freight and Transit Industry

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 15, 2014) -  Lilee Systems, the leading provider of advanced communication systems designed exclusively for the railroad and rail transit industry, today announced significant company milestones as the demand for its advanced wireless communications solutions experiences strong growth. The company's TransAir suite of products deliver an end-to-end Positive Train Control (PTC) communication system designed to capture interoperability requirements. Lilee Systems' TransAir PTC communications system features an integrated command, control, communications and information network for controlling train movements with reliability, precision and efficiency.

To accommodate its rapid expansion, the company today also announced the opening of its new San Jose office to support the growth of its R&D, engineering and sales and operations. Lilee will occupy 20,000 square feet of newly renovated space that has been designed as a technology center to showcase its products and solutions. The new facility is located in the center of Silicon Valley and is home to many of the world's largest technology corporations -including Cisco a leading technology partner.

With Cisco the company is jointly defining, designing, and implementing the industry's first end-to-end communication architecture for Positive Train Control (PTC) systems. The joint effort will provide the rail industry with a solution to meet the mandate of the Rail Safety Improvement Act by the December 31, 2015 deadline.

Lilee Achieves Significant Milestones as Demand for Positive Train Control Systems Fuel Growth

  • Announced general availability of its comprehensive suite of interoperable Positive Train Control (PTC) products for rail lines in partnership with Alstom Transportation, a global leader in rail signaling and safety systems and rail infrastructure. The two companies have developed an Interoperable Train Control (ITC) solution that for the first time offers the industry a Wayside Interface Unit with Systems Management Agent (SMA) functionality.

  • New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (NYMTA) standardizes on Lilee as the communications systems provider of choice to design, engineer, manufacture, and deploy the end-to-end wireless and wired ACSES II communications system for the MTA Metro-North Railroad and MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) commuter lines.

  • Secured IEEE approval of 802.15.4p-2014 Rail Communications and Control standard. Lilee developed the baseline for wireless links between trains or locomotives and track infrastructure, creating the framework for locomotive and transit communication standards. Norman Y. Mineta, former United States Secretary of Transportation, and board director for Lilee Systems, highlights the importance of establishing communication standards for the locomotive and transit industry: "We are at the crossroads of a new revolution in transit safety. The IEEE 802.15.4p Task Group took on a critical initiative by facilitating collaboration among diverse interests. I'm very enthusiastic about the new levels of safety that will undoubtedly be produced as a result of the new communication standard."

  • Recruited industry rail veteran Dave Gove to lead business development strategy to expand global product and technology adoption opportunities for strategic growth in freight railroads and appointed networking industry expert, Lele Nardin as vice president of engineering.

"We are experiencing phenomenal growth as we aggressively work to meet our customers' and partners' needs for reliable, high-performance IP-based communications systems," said Dr. Jia-ru Li, CEO of Lilee Systems. "The adoption of our TransAir product suite targets the heavy freight and passenger rail market as well as the needs of cost-sensitive rail transit agencies looking for flexibility and long-term maintainability. We are pleased to be opening our new Silicon Valley location as we expand our R&D, engineering and sales operations to support our growth and deliver rapid business benefits and long term value for our customers and partners."
