Limeade Supports Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center as It Improves Workforce Well-Being & Reduces Healthcare Expenses

Executive Advocacy and a Unified Employee Experience Critical Success Factors

BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwired - November 04, 2014) - Limeade, a technology company that builds high-performing workforces for Fortune 1000 companies, announced today its latest client success story from internationally renowned Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Cincinnati Children's ranks third in the nation in U.S. News & World Report's 2014 Best Children's Hospitals, and is recognized for improving child health and transforming delivery of care through fully integrated, globally recognized research, education and innovation.

With a workforce generating medical claims costs more than 15% higher than the national average, Cincinnati Children's chose to invest in well-being programs to reduce health care costs, achieve better patient care and drive a healthier and higher-performing workforce. Cincinnati Children's partnered with Limeade to rebuild its 'MyHealthPath' employee well-being program to inspire change and streamline existing employee programs. The program has increased participation in nutrition and coaching programs by up to 150%, delivered high-deductible benefit plan options, and engaged people in culture- and community- building activities. While they carefully avoid making sweeping statements of causality, Cincinnati Children's has seen MyHealthPath participants incur healthcare costs $716 lower (on average) than non-participant costs over a three-year report period.

Cincinnati Children's president and CEO Michael Fisher actively and visibly supported the program by sponsoring well-being challenges and launching an annual 'Fitness on the Field' event to engage employees and families. Other senior executives sponsored the program, such as Cheryl Hoying, Senior Vice President of Patient Services, who launched a healthy eating challenge that alone drove 300 new participants across the organization.

"Limeade technology, industry expertise and support has been invaluable to our employees and business needs," commented Lis Baldock, Senior Vice President of HR and Learning. "They understand the nuances of our organization's culture and how to build results-driven programs that truly resonate with our workforce."

In addition to strong executive support, employee champions also emerged to proactively organize activities that include walking teams, WeightWatchers™ groups, healthy eating initiatives and others.

"I constantly see people walking outside, up and down steps, and even in the parking garages," said Jill Guilfoile, Education Consultant and MyHealthPath user. "It's not only increased awareness of our health and fitness levels, but helps us meet new colleagues, build friendships and support one another in our well-being journey. To me that's a stress reliever in itself."

According to Henry Albrecht, CEO of Limeade, "Our relationship with Cincinnati Children's runs deep, and we are honored to help them lead in healthcare, and more broadly as an employer of choice and an incredible place to work. They have an intentional culture of well-being that supports operational excellence, financial strength and a mission of helping children and their families."

The Limeade SaaS platform uses points-based challenges to drive engagement in strategic HR, business and cultural initiatives, including healthcare, fitness, teambuilding, financial well-being and volunteering. With more than 100 Fortune 1000 clients, the company is growing 100% a year. To learn more about Cincinnati Children's success, please contact press@limeade.com. For more information about Limeade visit www.limeade.com.
