Linamar Corporation Announces The Appointment Of Margaret Cornish To The Company's Board Of Directors

GUELPH, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 19, 2005) - Linamar Corporation (TSX:LNR) today announced that Margaret Cornish, Executive Director of the Canada China Business Council, has joined the Company's Board of Directors. Ms. Cornish accepted her appointment to Linamar's Board. This appointment is effective immediately.

"We are thrilled to have Margaret join the Board of Linamar," said Linamar's CEO, Linda Hasenfratz. "Margaret's extensive experience in Asia, as well as her financial background, will be a huge asset to us particularly as we embark on our expansion into Asia."

Prior to the Canada China Business Council, Margaret Cornish worked in a private consultancy capacity in East Asia with a company she founded in early 2000. From 1988-2000 Margaret was a top ranked industrial products analyst with ScotiaCapital. Prior to that, she served as Director, Sovereign Debt Restructuring in the International Department of Scotiabank (1980-1988). She served on the Economic Council of Canada 1983-1986. A Mandarin speaker, Margaret's career began with the Canadian foreign service, serving as an officer at the Canadian Delegation to the United Nations in 1971 when China rejoined the organization, then in Beijing (1972-1974) and at the Canadian Mission to the European Union in Brussels (1977-1979). Margaret teaches occasional university business courses on doing business in China and Japan as well as cross-cultural management, and is a Research Associate at the Asian Institute at the Munk Centre of the University of Toronto.
