Lincoln Military Housing and Barona Race Track Honor San Diego Military Families

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 20, 2013) - On Saturday, May 18th, Armed Forces Day, the 5th annual "Barona Race Day Salute to the Military" event took place a the Barona Racetrack in Lakeside, CA.

The festivities were held at the 1/8-mile drag strip at the Barona Race Track. The day was a private event, sponsored by Barona and Lincoln Military Housing (LMH), for servicemen and women, and their families, who live in San Diego County Lincoln Military Housing homes. Free to Lincoln Military Housing families, the event included high-octane races, lunch, family photo opportunities, children's activities, T-shirts, and much more.

An LMH resident encapsulated the fun and excitement of the event by saying,

"The best experience was being at an event that my entire family enjoyed! The races were our favorite part and we have never seen these before! The racecar drivers were all so nice and even let my kids sit in their cars for photos. Thank you Lincoln for giving all us military personnel this experience as a thank you!"

Particularly moving was the mid-day ceremony held to honor the sacrifice of military members and their families. The ceremony included a color guard presentation by the Michael A. Monsoor Battalion of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps as well as a performance of the National Anthem.

Lincoln Military Housing is proud to donate over $15,000 from the event to the Navy SEAL Foundation. The donation comprised of sponsorship dollars, proceeds from the Lincoln Military Housing May water bottle collection fundraiser, T-shirt sales, door prize ticket sales, and a generous donation from Barona Racetrack.
