Lincroft Dental Practice Awards Healthcare Scholarships To Middletown And Holmdel High School Seniors

LINCROFT, NJ--(Marketwired - October 23, 2014) - Dr. Mitchel Friedman, a highly trusted name in Lincroft dental cosmetics, recently awarded a healthcare scholarship to two local graduating high school seniors.

The Newman Springs Dental Care Healthcare Scholarship is awarded each year to high school seniors pursuing a career in the healthcare fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, chiropractic or physical therapy. Dr. Friedman, the owner and operator of Newman Springs Dental Care, presented the 2014 scholarships to Victoria Fortunato of Middletown High School North and Paulina Miller of Holmdel High School.

"The community appreciates the spirit of the scholarships for these young students. Even something like $500 might be the difference in helping someone realize their dream," the Lincroft dentist said.

"There were several excellent students who were worthy of the scholarship. Paulina and Victoria just stood out from the candidates" said Dr. Friedman, whose three children all attended the Holmdel school system.

Dr. Friedman is a 1976 graduate of the Middletown Township Public School System, where his mother, Sheila Friedman Rubin, taught her entire career.

Newman Springs Dental Care is a comprehensive dental practice that focuses on aesthetic dentistry, sedation dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, dental implant surgery, full denture implants, temporary dentures, porcelain veneer teeth, restorations, teeth whitening, Invisalign, CEREC same-day crowns, same day dental implants, endodontics, crowns, bridges and preventive care.

Dr. Friedman received his bachelor's degree from Rutgers College and graduated in the top 15 percent of his class from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 1984. He completed the General Practice Residency Program at Monmouth Medical Center. Dr. Friedman is now highly recognized as one of Lincroft's best cosmetic dentists who is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. To obtain a Master designation, Dr. Friedman first became a Fellow with the Academy of General Dentistry, a process that requires 500 hours in continuing education. For his Master designation, Dr. Friedman took an additional 600 hours of continuing education courses, 400 hours of which required hands-on instruction.

Dr. Friedman holds memberships with the New Jersey Dental Association, American Dental Association, Monmouth-Ocean County Dental Society, Crown Council, New Jersey Dental Society of Anesthesia, and American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He also is an attending doctor and part-time clinical instructor at Monmouth Medical Center.

Dr. Friedman is responsible for bringing the Dentistry From The Heart program to Lincroft. During the event, professional oral health care workers provide adults with free exams, blood pressure and advanced oral cancer screenings, and digital X-rays at Dr. Friedman's practice, located at 539 Newman Springs Road.

Volunteers treated more than 100 patients last year, and Dr. Friedman and his dedicated group of volunteers have given away more than $350,000 in dental care since the event came to Lincroft in 2007. This year's event was scheduled for Oct. 23.

Dr. Friedman's practice partner, Dr. Julia Cintron, is a graduate of the Rutgers University-University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Biomedical Services. Following dental school, she continued her education through the General Practice Residency Program at Monmouth Medical Center. Dr. Cintron volunteers with Dr. Friedman's Dentistry From The Heart program and with Give Kids a Smile.
